Program Description

The Community Connections Volunteer Program (CCVP) connects newcomers with the community through networking and other activities that support cross-cultural awareness and informal language learning.

By matching singles or families with volunteers, newcomers receive welcome support during initial adjustment to their new life in Canada.

Opportunities are open for newcomers as well as new volunteers.

Am I eligible?

Permanent residents or live in caregivers who have lived in Canada for 3 years or less are eligible for matched support.

To volunteer you must be a Canadian Citizen or a Permanent Resident who has resided in Canada over two years.

All new volunteers are required to complete a screening and orientation process. To be matched with an individual or family you will be asked to:

Where is the service provided?

All services can be accessed at the Immigrant Services office at 1107 2nd Avenue North, Lethbridge. Some program activities may take place at other facilities/partner organizations.

How much will it cost?

All eligible newcomers are welcome to access this free service funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

How do I access this program?

A CCVP staff member will contact you to complete the application process and initiate your orientation.

NEWS RELEASE: ATB presents: Drive In For Mental Health with Gord Bamford

July 6, 2020

Bamford and his crew will be at Lethbridge Exhibition Park on Saturday, July 11, 2020 for two shows at 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Tickets are $65 for a vehicle of four people, with all proceeds going to Lethbridge Family Services and Woods Homes to support mental health initiatives and LFS online counselling.


Bamford concert in Lethbridge to raise money for mental health

The concerts are in support of various mental health charities in Alberta. For Lethbridge, the funds raised target Wood’s Homes and Lethbridge Family Services.
