Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM)

Lethbridge Family Services is proud to be a part of the EmployUsYQL committee. 

The purpose of Disability Employment Awareness Month is to promote employment inclusion for people who experience disability and to celebrate the many and varied contributions of workers with disabilities.

EmployUsYQL along with other provincial partners will be hosting events throughout October to Celebrate Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM). Below is a list of the events that are happening. EmployUsYQL is also selling DEAM masks for $12 each. You can get black or white. Poster attached. We have them at the SAIPA office, so stop by or contact us if you would like to purchase.
 
Oct 1st – DEAM Kickoff

  • City Hall lit up red
  • Digital Dance Party from 1-4PM (Young man with autism who we support is DJing) Link to the zoom session so you can join in and have some fun! https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84830792711
  • Red Shirt Campaign to promote the kickoff for DEAM (Citizens asked to wear a red shirt that day) 
Oct 8th – HireForTalent Session – 9Am – 11AM -  HireForTalent hosts seminars to businesses on hiring inclusively, and offers education on the inherent benefits of a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Oct. 27th – MentorAbility Session – A provincial session that aims to foster natural connections between employers and potential employees with disabilities. MentorAbility helps with recruitment and outreach strategies for businesses who are interested in exploring more inclusive hiring practices.
 
Throughout October
  • EmployUsYQL is set to promote Lethbridge Businesses who have already been successful in hiring employees with a disability. Follow EmployUsYQL on Social media for the most up to date information  on DEAM.
