Did You Know?

  • While sexual violence is often thought to be a physical assault, it can also include the sharing of intimate images without consent, making threatening comments, or any form of sexual touching that is unwanted, regardless of the relationship.

  • An estimated 1.8 million Albertans have experienced sexual violence in their lifetime, while an estimated 325,000 children are currently experiencing sexual abuse in Alberta [source].

  • Gender is a primary risk factor for sexual violence. Women, girls, LGBTQ2S+ people, and other vulnerable groups experience sexual violence at a higher rate than men. This negatively impacts their ability to feel safe, often changing or limiting activities as a result.

Please remember that support is available if you need someone to talk to. If you are in an emergency, please call 911.
