LFS Launches Southern Alberta’s First Information Event for Temporary Foreign Workers
Gregory Rabus, Coordinator of the Settlement & Community Support Services (SCSS) program at LFS, addresses members of the media at the announcement of a new temporary foreign worker information event.
Lethbridge Family Services (LFS) Immigrant Services is proud to announce Find Your Path: Temporary Foreign Worker Information Day, a first-of-its-kind gathering in Lethbridge, designed to connect temporary foreign workers and refugee claimants with the information, resources, and support they need to succeed in Alberta.
Southern Alberta is home to a diverse and growing population of temporary residents, including international graduates, highly skilled professionals, service industry workers, seasonal agricultural employees, refugee claimants, and their families. While these individuals contribute significantly to local communities and the economy, many remain unaware of the services and opportunities available to help them build successful lives in Lethbridge (and Canada).
Hosted by the LFS Settlement and Community Support Services (SCSS) program, funded by the Government of Alberta, Find Your Path will provide participants with access to trusted information, expert guidance, and valuable community connections.
The free, full-day event will take place on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at the Excite Lethbridge Trade and Convention Centre.
The event will feature:
Information about Alberta support services available to temporary foreign workers
Current and reliable information on immigration pathways
An overview of English and French language learning opportunities
Community resource booths featuring local service providers
Networking opportunities with professionals and community organizations
Additionally, a unique highlight of the event will be the opportunity for participants to book a free 15-minute one-on-one consultation with an immigration lawyer to discuss questions related to their individual circumstances.
"Temporary foreign workers are essential to our communities, workplaces, and economy," said John Lafferty, Director of Immigrant Services at Lethbridge Family Services. "Many arrive with tremendous skills, experience, and aspirations, yet face challenges navigating unfamiliar systems. Find Your Path will ensure people have access to accurate information, trusted resources, and meaningful connections so they can make informed decisions about their future and fully participate in community life. We want every participant to leave feeling more confident, informed, and supported.”
To ensure the event is welcoming and accessible, lunch, snacks, and coffee will be provided throughout the day. Free language interpretation services will also be available to assist participants in conversations with presenters and service providers.
Participants can register at https://find-your-path.eventbrite.ca. Space is limited, and interested participants are encouraged to register early.
