Ron Tyslau of Avonlea Homes presents Lindsay Prete, Angel Tree Coordinator, with a record-breaking cheque for $40,135 in support of Angel Tree 2025.
On November 14, we officially launched the 33rd annual Angel Tree Christmas Campaign, with our three-year presenting sponsor, Avonlea Homes, celebrating 30 years of building homes. Ron Tyslau from Avonlea Homes, who leads the company’s efforts, announced their new total donations at the press conference at the Avonlea Homes Southbrook Show Home located at 2620 43rd Street South, in Lethbridge.
Avonlea Homes, alongside its valued industry supporters, raised a collosal $40,135 for Angel Tree toys and gifts. This is the largest amount ever contributed to the campaign!

Wendy Herbers, the 2025 Campaign Chair, believes that, for every family, Christmas has its own unique traditions, treasured memories, and joy. “Every tag selected, every gift bundled, and every smile exchanged reminds us that Christmas is not only about what we give, but about what we create together: a spirit of hope, warmth, and connection that lasts well beyond the holidays.”
Each gift bundle represents more than just toys—it’s a message of hope and kindness that will soon brighten a child’s holiday season. Volunteers move with purpose, smiles on their faces and determination in their hearts, knowing that every effort contributes to something far greater than themselves. The Toy Depot is humming with the sound of teamwork and compassion, reminding us that when a community comes together, the impossible becomes possible.
Angel Tree relies on the strength of our community and the generosity of compassionate hearts to create real miracles for those in need. This year, we face another big challenge, with an estimated 3,500 babies, children, and youth to support. Help is more crucial than ever, and together, we can make a lasting difference.
Each gift bundle is carefully packed for every child with:
Something on their wish list
Something inspirational to fuel their imaginations (Lego, Play-Doh, art and crafts)
Something educational to nourish their minds (Science kits, Word games, books)
Something warm, cuddly, and soft (toques, mitts, scarves, blankets, stuffies)

As of mid-November, about 900 gift bundles are complete, with over 2,500 more to go. The Angel Tree Toy Depot is buzzing with energy while our gift bundlers carefully and diligently assemble gift bundles from the wishlists of children in our community.
Sandra Mintz, CEO of Lethbridge Family Services, explained, "None of us is immune. Tragedy, grief, and financial hardship don't knock politely. They arrive unexpectedly and uninvited in many different homes. They happen to neighbours, friends, and colleagues. To people who were doing 'just fine' a few months ago. That is why Angel Tree exists."
