How can we help?

Slip and Slide in Lethbridge

May 13, 2016

“When LFS found out about this incredibly fun event and that Fun City Sliders was looking for partners, we jumped at the chance to work with the company.  This is an exciting event for the city and it is a great opportunity for community members to bring their families out, have some fun, and help raise money for our agency which helps families in Southern Alberta.- says Melody Garner, Director of Advancement & Community Relations with Lethbridge Family Services.

There are multiple ways to enjoy the event and get involved.  Tickets can be purchased at www.funcitysliders.com and include unlimited sliders, triple slider, and single slider options.  A portion of each ticket sale will be donated to Lethbridge Family Services to help build a new Outdoor program area for clients of LFS.  In addition, LFS is looking for close to 100 volunteers aged 18+ to help out during the day with a variety of duties plus local vendors to add even more fun to the event.  Each volunteer will receive a triple slide pass free of charge for helping out.  Details about partnership and volunteer opportunities can be found at www.lfsfamily.ca

“Fun City Sliders is excited to bring this caliber of family friendly entertainment to the residents of Southern Alberta.  Lethbridge has great summers and we believe that this event will provide an amazing way for people to spend a day outside in beautiful Southern Alberta with their families while helping raise money for programs that support Southern Alberta families.  As a company we are hosting events like this across British Columbia and Alberta all summer and are excited to have Lethbridge as one of our destinations.”-says Greg Fry, General Manager of Fun City Sliders.

For people attending the event, the organizers are encouraging individuals to take transit that day or walk to the site as parking will be available but will be limited and be located in a field located about 500 metres from the top of the slide.  The event will involve the closure of Scenic Drive North from the intersection of Stafford Drive North Southwest to the entrance of Softball Valley North of 9th Avenue Scenic Drive North on July 23rd starting in the early morning until later that evening.   It is expected that close to 4,000 people will visit the site during the day and experience this wet and wild adventure.  Tubes will be provided to go down the slide on and individuals are encouraged to get their friends and family together to make this a day to remember.  Alcohol will not be sold or permitted at the event to ensure that a family friendly atmosphere remains for event participants.
