Lethbridge Family Services is working 24/7

Supporting one of our fragile populations in Lethbridge & Southwestern Alberta

Lethbridge, AB

Health care aides (also known as HCAs) are valued members of the Lethbridge Family Services health-care team in Southwestern Alberta. They provide family-centered care by giving personal assistance and support services for our fragile population: people who are ill, elderly, or have a disability, and those who require short-term assistance or ongoing support.

“As the world navigates the current challenging environment around the COVID-19 pandemic, Lethbridge Family Services continues to work with Alberta Health Services and is vigilant around monitoring and managing the situation,” states Sandra Mintz, CEO, Lethbridge Family Services. “We are taking all protective measures to keep our workforce healthy, maintain supplies, mange a sanitized client care environment, and utilize best practices as outlined by Alberta Health Services.”

Lethbridge Family Services has been working around the clock to contact over 1,000 clients and plan for immediate and long-term care. Cognizant that staffing levels may be at risk during 14-day quarantines, the organization is preparing for re-deployment of current staff in other Departments to assist in ensuring that all our client needs are met.

“This is a unique and unprecedented scenario for many workers, particularly if they have not been involved in similar responses”, said WHO, with the reminder that “this is not a sprint, it’s a marathon”.
Every day, and especially during this pandemic, we honour caretakers and healthcare workers for the role they play to save lives and keep loved ones safe.
