LETHBRIDGE, Alberta, January 31, 2018 – Lethbridge Family Services is pleased to announce it has received an $18,000 grant from the Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund to support a therapy group initiative for young women called, “Take Back Your World”.
Bell Canada has shown exemplary leadership in championing open communication around mental health”, said Sandra Mintz, CEO, Lethbridge Family Services. It is inspiring to witness the influence of their “Let’s Talk” campaign in getting Canadians to open up and discuss this important subject. Lethbridge Family Services is proud to stand beside Bell Canada’s effort, and deeply grateful for their financial support of our “Take Back Your World” initiative.
“Take Back Your World” is a 10-week therapy group for teen girls (ages 13 - 17) who have experienced abuse and present with a mental health issue. The group will provide the opportunity to safely explore issues concerning trauma, including childhood, physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse. This group will encourage young women to give voice to their experiences in an empowering environment enhancing individual growth. It will also connect these women with peers who are working towards healing, providing a sense of togetherness.
“Today we are very proud to be able help Lethbridge Family Services support young girls in Lethbridge through the “Take Back Your World” initiative,” said Mary Deacon, Chair of Bell Let’s Talk. “This grant to Lethbridge Family Services is one of 70 from the 2017 Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund supporting programs providing mental health services in communities around the country that help Canadians living with mental health issues.”
For more information or to schedule an intake appointment, community members are invited to call the Intake Office at Lethbridge Family Services at 403-327-5724.
