Youth Settlement Services
School Based Settlement Support
We work at schools and at homes to help youth and families understand and succeed in Canadian schools.
- Students will get help with anything they need at school, at the beginning and all year. Students will learn about classes, how to get to school safely, and what they will get to do at school! Students can also get help from their Youth Settlement Practitioner about things like friends, jobs, and the community.
- Parents can get help with how to register, pay school fees, and talking with teachers and the school. Youth Settlement Practitioners can be at parent teacher meetings as well!
- Teachers, School Staff, Children and Community Services Providers can receive support to learn more about working with immigrant youth, to assist with newcomers’ registration, to facilitate parent meetings, to meet with students to resolve issues, and arrange interpretation/ translation services when needed.
Youth Settlement Services hosts special days for clients, including summer camps and activities for all ages including lessons, orientations, field trips, and more! These activities support immigrant youth to get to know their new community and met new friends.
