Newcomer Settlement Services
Our Newcomer Settlement Services program (NSS) assists newcomers in developing a plan for successful settlement in Lethbridge. We offer newcomers one-on-one and group supports to help adjust to life in Canada. These services meet the needs of children, youth, parents, adults, seniors, and families.
What We Offer

Skill-building workshops information sessions that provide practical guidance to every-day living in Canada to help individuals gain the confidence to seek services on their own

Access to interpretation and translation services to assist in the settlement process

Education on Canadian laws and justice system, becoming Canadian citizen, Canadian taxation system, money and finances.

Help connecting with community resources, transportation, cultural and religious institutions

Assistance for parents accessing childcare and out of school programs

Referrals to services such as banking, health care, locating a home, government services and family benefits.

Help accessing English language assessment, instruction, and community employment programming.

Solution focused counseling services help individuals and families adjust to life in Canada

Ongoing support through the settlement journey from Settlement Practitioners as needed
You Are Eligible for Settlement Supports If You Are:
-
A foreign live-in caregiver
-
A family class immigrant
-
An economic class immigrant
-
A Government assisted refugee (GAR)
-
An individual or family who has applied for permanent resident status and has received an Approval in Principle letter from Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Canadian citizens and/or newcomers who continue to experience significance linguistic and cultural barriers and who have lived in Canada for more than three years are also encouraged to apply.
All eligible newcomers are welcome to access this service funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
